Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry and Sandwich Kitchen

The Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen began in 1980, handing out coffee and sandwiches to patrons on our front porch. Today, our sandwich kitchen is open 4 days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We serve, on average, fifty to sixty meals a day. We also provide hygiene kits, socks, gloves, hats and winter clothing to our guests. Volunteers include parishioners, DePaul students, faculty and staff, and others from the neighborhood. * Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to serve. *

Group Volunteering

Care for Creation Initiative

St. Vincent de Paul Parish’s Care for Creation Initiative is a parish and community-wide program to increase awareness of how closely connected our environmental awareness is to our faith and to social justice. Together we will prayerfully and thoughtfully develop a plan of action to address the climate crisis. We are working with DePaul University’s Environmental Science Department who will track, measure, and analyze our practices to determine our effectiveness in lessening our carbon footprint. The group will meet monthly via Zoom to plan and implement meaningful activities to care.

Mission: To create a gathering platform of Catholic women dedicated to connection, deep listening, heartfelt reflection, and the joyful discovery of how to live out our faith as Jesus asks us to do. Ask: Come as you are! No matter your age, background, or where you are in your faith, you are welcome. Please bring your ideas, questions, joys, doubts, fears, and longings regarding life and faith in today’s world. Plan: To meet monthly at the Parish Center. Gatherings will include occasional speakers, topical and moderated discussions, open conversations in both small and larger groups, & more.
