The St Josaphat Refugee/Migrant Ministry welcomes anyone who is interested. Please consider volunteering. You will find that the experience enriches your life as much as the lives of those that you serve. There are many opportunities to provide the steady friendship and practical support that give refugees in Chicagoland a sense of welcome and belonging.

Don's Helping Hands at St. Josaphat

The mission of our Don's Helping Hands ministry is to carry out corporal works of mercy in our community, with a primary focus on feeding the hungry and providing drink to the thirsty. Each weekday, we serve about 90 bagged lunches to those less fortunate from the rectory’s Red Door Room between 9:30–10:30 am. This effort depends entirely on the love and generosity of our volunteers, who help by donating supplies, making sandwiches, assembling lunches, and serving them.

Hands of Mercy Outreach at St Josaphat

Our specific goal is to be the hands of Christ in our community by reaching out to those in need through the corporal works of mercy. Bring your great ideas to our Hands of Mercy coordinators. They know which of our ministries need more help, and where we can direct your good intentions. We're grateful for all of the wonderful volunteers involved with Hands of Mercy!

St Josaphat Prison Ministry

We seek to promote restoration and reconciliation through outreach, support and accompaniment. We follow the example of St. Maximilian Kolbe to love and hope in the midst of evil and despair. Monthly on the 2nd Saturday, 9:30-10:30 a.m., beginning March 8, 2025 All volunteers with Kolbe House ministries and any Catholic jail or prison ministry across the state of Illinois are invited to gather for prayer, reflection and sharing. Walking with the imprisoned is not meant to be done alone.

Breaking Open the Word

You're Invited: Breaking Open the Word (Tuesdays, 10-11 AM on Zoom!) Join us each week for Breaking Open the Word, a welcoming space where we gather on Zoom to read, reflect, and discuss the upcoming Sunday Gospel. In a world full of noise and distraction, Scripture calls us back to what really matters. By spending time with the Word of God before Mass, we become more attentive, more engaged, and more open to what God is saying to us through the liturgy.
