St. John XXIII Parish acknowledges the original people on whose land we gather, primarily the Potawatomi, Oneida and Ottawa, as well as those indigenous people who still call this area home. Both churches, St. Mary and St. Nicholas, of St. John XXIII parish, have histories that reflect the growth and change of the church as well as the growth and changing demographic of this area. The language of immigrants is a recurring theme in the history of both churches.
