St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, at 1023 McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake, is 'a Catholic Christian community prayerfully striving to be disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the world.' The parish was founded in December 1978 under Father Joseph F. Kulak, first gathering for Mass in the Crystal Lake South High School auditorium; St. Thomas the Apostle Parish donated the rectory and land, and the church was dedicated on April 24, 1982. The church includes a Eucharistic Chapel, a stained glass window depicting the life of its patroness, a six-foot bronze crucifix and numerous relics where visitors can kneel and light candles.
