Cantonese & Mandarin Bible Sharing

If you would like to grow and share your faith experience with others, find the meaning of the Bible in your daily life and prefer speaking in Mandarin or Cantonese, please consider joining our Bible sharing programs! We ask that those who attend understand spoken Mandarin or Cantonese, and are willing to share their experiences.

Missionaries of Charity Soup Kitchen

The Sisters from the Missionaries of Charity operate the St. Joseph's Home soup kitchen at 115 N. Oakley Blvd. Our Parish joins the sisters once a week at the soup kitchen to help with cooking, cleaning, and serving those in need. The soup kitchen is opened 6 days a week (closed on Thursdays) from 8:30 AM - 11 AM.

St. James Food Pantry

St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish works closely with St. James Food Pantry, located nearby at 2907 S. Wabash Ave., to assist those in need in our neighborhood more consistently and efficiently. We will send volunteers on the 2nd Saturday of each month to help distribute food and provide other needed food pantry services. The food pantry staff especially needs and appreciates Mandarin and Cantonese speaking parishioners or volunteers to communicate and serve all in our community.

SMTC Respect Life Committee

The Respect Life Committee at our parish seeks to transform society into a Culture of Life where every human being is valued and protected, from the moment of conception to natural death. We educate and inspire people throughout the year through bulletin articles, retreats, and events, We also sponsor Respect Life liturgy petitions and special prayer vigils/holy hours in the parish.

St. Vincent DePaul Society

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides services to needy families and individuals within our community, quietly helping cover the very basics for human dignity such as food, shelter, and clothing. If you find your family needing food assistance, please complete the registration form found in the bulletin.
