About St. Michael Catholic Church
Chicago, Illinois
Since its founding, St. Michael has been entrusted to the pastoral care of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer—the Redemptorists. Inspired by their founder, Alphonsus Liguori, the Redemptorists are missionaries dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of God’s abundant love, especially to those who feel forgotten, burdened, or far from the Church. Their charism is simple and powerful: to preach the Gospel boldly, to make God’s mercy known, and to remind every person that no one is beyond the reach of God’s redeeming love. That missionary spirit continues to shape life at St. Michael today. Through vibrant liturgies, compassionate outreach, opportunities for spiritual growth, and a welcoming parish culture, we strive to be a place where people encounter Christ in a real and transformative way. Guided by our patron, St. Michael the Archangel, and inspired by the Redemptorist mission of hope and mercy, we seek to bring the light of Christ into the heart of the city. Whether you are searching for a parish home, returning to the Church, or simply exploring the Catholic faith—you are always welcome at St. Michael in Old Town.
